Letter From the Executive Director
Letter from the Executive Director This is an exciting newsletter for me, since it's my first as the Executive Director. For me, be-coming the leader for Trucker Buddy is a dream come true. I've followed the progress of the program since I first met our founder, Gary King, back in 1994. I've been actively involved for the past six years. Here is a little more about me so you will know where I've been and where I want to us to head in the future. I started in the trucking industry when I joined Randall Publishing in 1993 as their Controller and then moved into publishing working on Overdrive, Trucker News and their trade shows. Over the years, I've developed an understanding of our industry by starting and leading products such eTrucker.com and the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas. I've experienced highs and lows in trucking and watched the events in-between. Over the years, I've talked to thousands of trucking professionals including fleet owners and managers, OEM marketing managers, magazine editors and of course, more importantly drivers. What I've learned is we have an exceptional industry filled with professional, dedicated people who want to be part of the solution. Over the last six years of serving on the board, I've been blown away by the dedication of our Trucker Buddy members. We have had some large hurdles to overcome, and if it weren't for our loyal members, our program would not exist today. For that I want to say, thank you! The hurdles continue, but right now we should focus on one challenge, and that is to continue to grow Trucker Buddy during this down economy. Our industry has been hard hit, but there's good indications it's coming back, and there are clear signs that support for Trucker Buddy will be strong. We can survive and thrive by working together and using all of our skills. We will make Trucker Buddy a success. The industry knows that that Trucker Buddy plays a critical role in trucking, showing the posi-tive image of trucking to our nation's schoolchildren. We have been doing this since 1992 and will do it for many years to come. Thank you for your support, advice and your dedication. Randy www.truckerbuddy.org 3
