Dunkin’ hosts traffic reports
Dunkin’ Donuts launched a new website that lets users see a live video feed of the traffic in 25 U.S. cities. The site, www.rushhourrunsondunkin. com, also gives access to real-time traffic accident updates, driving directions and maps featuring live traffic condition information and nearby Dunkin’ Donuts locations. The site is a partnership between the donut-and-coffee chain and Metro Traffic, a media programming provider dealing in traffic issues across the U.S. “Dunkin’ Donuts plays an indispensable role in the daily commutes and weekend trips of millions, just like Metro Traffic,” said Michael O’Neil, a regional vice president of Metro Traffic.

Some big names in the specialty coffee
industry are backing the Global Coffee Quality Research Initiative to fund research on ways to increase the quality and availability of green specialty coffee. “There has never before been an attempt to look globally into the primary motivating factors for coffee quality,” said Ric Rhinehart, executive director of the SCAA. The industry is in dire need of data, he says. “This ‘voyage of discovery’ originating and funded from the specialty coffee industry itself, has the potential to revolutionize and improve the specialty coffee business in the U.S. and globally.” Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Intelligentsia Coffee, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Counter Culture Coffee, Coffee Bean International, Tony’s Coffee’s & Teas, Royal Cup Coffee, Union Hand-Roasted Coffee, Sweet Maria’s Coffee and Songers & Associates each pledged more than $250,000 to the startup project.
