Thoughts for Keeping an Upbeat,
Positive Outlook

s I’ve been advocating, a positive, upbeat attitude helps us cope more easily with the daily affairs of life because it brings us optimism and helps make it easier to deal with worries and negative thinking. Attitude is a state of mind, and developing and strengthening a positive one can work wonders. A case in point is the elderly woman who woke up one morning, got dressed and then looked at herself in the mirror. She noticed she had only three hairs on her head. “Well,” she said, “I’m going to braid my hair today.” She did, went about her day and had a good day. The following day, the woman repeated her morning routine. Only this time when she looked into the mirror she saw she had only two hairs on her head. “Today, I think I’ll part my hair down the middle,” she said. She did and once again had a fine day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. With just a bit of hesitation she said: “I’m going to wear my hair in a pony tail today.” She did and had another good day. On the next day, when she viewed herself in the mirror after she had finished dressing, she found that she was totally bald. “Great,” she said. “I don’t have to fix my hair today.” Attitude is everything. It’s not what happens, but what you think is happening that matters. Keep your attitude positive.
