Ram Good Rig
23 www.CUSTOMRIGSmag.com My dad and grandfather were drivers for Oakwood, Ill.-based McVeigh Trucking in the 1970s, says Todd Cox, the owner and customizer of this classic Dodge Bighorn tractor. McVeigh had 50 trucks on the road back then hauling coal, sand, gravel and grain. Among them was a Dodge Bighorn the owner drove, says Cox, the memory of which drove Cox to turn this one into the retro-mod it is today. During the Dodge Bighorn's extremely limited production history (1972-'75), Detroit Diesel and Cummins power was optional. Todd Cox's Bighorn features this turbocharged Cummins 350 with intercooler. For more on the history of the vehicle visit the www. olddodges.com site, where you can fi nd Mr. Bighorn Tony Youngblood's past articles on the model. The detail on this classic, such as the fi nished oak frame decking, is the work of owner Todd Cox's Tilton, Ill., body shop, Todd's Auto Body. It was originally a tri-axle truck, says Cox, and hauled heavy equipment when it was new. Bighorn
