Shining Bright
Interior, Cab Only; Second in Mobil Del-vac Working Engine Class; Second and Third in Bobtail Lights; Third in Combo Lights; and Pride & Polish Best Limited Mileage Interior. But what makes Pride & Polish truck beauty shows especially attractive to participants and spectators alike is individual owner-operators com-peting fender-to-fender against deep-pocketed fleets. For example, the Roadworks Best Use of Chrome award went to Raymond Brown of Central Florida Xpress for his Cracker Coalition, an `08 Kenworth W900L toting a 1997 Utility reefer. Chris and Denise Jones did well, too, claiming the Rising Star Award for their super-sleeper-equipped '07 Kenworth W900L carrying a Harley-Davidson Wide Ride on the back porch. Wayne Hollingsworth, with son Wayne Jr., captured Bobtail Lights with their distinctive twin-sleeper '95 Peterbilt 379, usually seen trolling southern Alabama salvage yards pulling car-crushing equip-ment and hauling off scrap. Such is the beauty of Pride & polish shows: The common denomina-tor is every owner-operator takes great pride in his ride and it shows both liter-ally and figuratively. Next year's Wildwood event is likely to be a lot bigger. Keep that in mind if you are planning a pit stop at 75 Chrome Shop next April. If you wheel your custom rig down, you'll be guaranteed preferred parking and plenty of fun. 45 www.CUSTOMRIGSmag.com Taylor Transport's R.J. Martin takes great pride in his '07 Pete, Margaritaville. It took Best Limited Mileage Bobtail and Pride & Polish Best Limited Mileage interior honors. Raymond Brown's Cracker Coalition, a 2 008 Kenworth W900L combo with a 1997 Utilit y Reefer, impressed Pride & Polish judges enough to win Roadworks Best use of Chrome. Fellow competitors gave Carl Ragland a lot of ribbing as he sweated in the Florida sun cleaning and polishing his viper red 2006 Peterbilt 379, which he drives and maintains for Georgia-based Taylor Transport. But his dedication to perfection won his rig Best of Show Working Bobtail.
