D
esigned for production-oriented operators, the CD54 vibratory asphalt compactor delivers efficient performance on highways, city streets, county roads, lane additions, industrial sites, overlays, airport runways and other medium- to high-production paving jobs. Providing excellent maneuverability, the CD54 is equipped with front and rear pivoting split drums and four steering modes: front drum, rear drum, coordinated and crab operation. The exclusive split drum system enables the machine to make tight turns without damaging the hot mat. When turning, the outside drum half rotates faster than the inside drum, eliminating the potential for shoving that can occur with standard drum designs. When fully offset, coordinated steering enables a 110-inch (2.8- m) inside turning radius for good mobility near obstacles. The four-cylinder CatŪ 3054C turbocharged engine provides 99.5 hp (74.5 kW) at 2,200 rpm and meets U.S. EPA Tier 2 emission requirements. The
water spray system features a single, 198-gallon (750-L) tank that delivers many hours of operation. The CD54 can be used on all phases of asphalt compaction, reducing the need for a variety of rollers. With a standard operating weight of 20,944 pounds (9,500 kg) and maximum operating weight of 24,030 pounds (10,900 kg), the standard compaction width is 67 inches (1,700 mm). When combined with the 51-inch (1.3-m) offset feature, the CD54 provides a total compaction width of 118 inches (3 m) for excellent jobsite versatility.
