2009 State of the Industry
A labama Trucking Association 2009 Golf Classic Chairman Joe Black wore a wide grin as he welcomed the nearly 200 golfers who assembled in late September for ATA's 21st Annual Golf Classic. The golf tournament is a major fundraiser for the group's political action committees, TRUK PAC and ALATON. Faced with a cool economy, tournament organizers worried that this year's Classic might suffer a significant dip in fundraising and attendance; but once again ATA's mem-bership came through, raising more than $100,000 in tournament sponsorships, which ties last year's record amount. This is quite an accomplishment, espe-cially in a down economy, Black noted in his welcoming address to attendees. I thank my committee; the tournament's 131 spon-sors; and all of you here today.
