Fort Stevenson State Park (H-9) 3 mi S of Garrison With a new marina, this north shore park is the setting for the ND Governor's Cup Walleye Fishing Derby and the starting point for CANDISC, a week-long bike tour held each summer in August. 701-337-5576 Grahams Island State Park (F-17) 15 mi SW of Devils Lake Camping and picnicking facilities and a boat ramp. The park hosts fishing tournaments and offers some of the best ice fishing in ND. 701-766-4015 Icelandic State Park (C-21) 5 mi W of Cavalier on Hwy. 5 Located on Lake Renwick with camping, boating, swimming, a restored homestead and 200-acre natural wooded area along the Tongue River. 701-265-4561 Lake Metigoshe State Park (B-13) 14 mi NE of Bottineau Nestled along the Canadian border, lakes within the park provide fishing, canoeing, boating and swimming. Trails attract hikers, mountain bikers, birders, snowmobilers and cross-country skiers. Lewis & Clark State Park (E-4) 19 mi SE of Williston on Hwy. 1804 Towering buttes provide a rugged backdrop to this park on one of Lake Sakakawea's upper bays. There is a full-service marina with boat rentals and a store. Visitors can hike a self-guided nature trail and rent sleeping cabins. 701-859-3071 Little Missouri State Park (H-6) 17 mi N of Killdeer Set in some of the most rugged Badlands terrain in ND, most of the park is accessible only by horseback or hiking. Thirty miles of trails with horse rentals and guide service available. 701-794-3731 Sully Creek State Recreation Area (K-3) 2.5 mi S of Medora Located in the ND Badlands, Sully Creek is just minutes from historic Medora. Canoe the Little Missouri River, or keep your horses in the corrals.
