Journal of Academic Ophthalmology 2010, Volume 3, Number 1 6 Introduction Education of medical students and residents is an es-sential function of academic medical centers. While medical students and residents participate in provid-ing care to many patients who visit academic medical institutions, patients may be unaware of the levels of physician training. In an otolaryngology ward in the United Kingdom, Montague and Hussain found that 65% of patients desired to be informed if medical stu-dents were in attendance during the ward rounds, and patient satisfaction could be increased if team mem-bers introduced themselves and better defined their Knowledge and Opinions Regarding Care Provided at Teaching Hospitals Among Ophthalmology Patients at an Academic Medical Center Taylor Brueseke, BS
