AUPO Program Directors Council
2008, Volume 1, Number 1 6 Introduction The Association of University Professors of Ophthal-mology (AUPO) Residency Program Directors Council (PDC) is funded by the AUPO and reports to its Board of Trustees. It was developed to support ophthalmology residency program directors nationally. Its goals include the development of tools for teaching and evaluation, including collaborative research on residency education; the facilitation of new program directors' education in the administrative aspects of the position; and the or-ganization of symposia on residency education. Toward this latter goal, the PDC develops symposia at the an-nual meetings of the American Academy of Ophthal-mology and the AUPO. Program Directors Council The PDC consists of seven elected members who are current Program Directors with at least two years of experience, including the President, President-Elect, Immediate Past-President, and four at-large members. Each elected member serves seven years on the PDC, ascending in order of election through the last three years as President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past-President. Each year, the PDC organizes an election for one new member of the Council to maintain a comple-ment of seven members as the Immediate Past-President completes service. Current members for 2007-2008 include:  Anthony C. Arnold, MD (Jules Stein Eye Institute/ UCLA): Immediate Past-President  Karl C. Golnik, MD (University of Cincinnati): President  Maria M.
